You know all those reality-based TV shows, where couples or singles are sent to tropical islands to, well, act like idiots for our amusement? Well, one such program, Celebrity Love Island, took over a beautiful, unspoiled eco-sanctuary off the coast of Fiji and screwed it over. This, after promises were made that all sets for the show would be taken down and the island returned to its natural beauty. From the article,

“Teams of set designers, carpenters and builders spent months erecting the luxury resort, which was built to withstand a cyclone.Foil-clad air-conditioning ducts are piled high on the overgrown plot where the main house stood. A septic tank has been left uncovered, attracting rats, and wood is rotting everywhere. The pool – where Abi Titmus fell out of her bikini top, prompting Sharpe to dub her “Shabby Titters” – has been moved to the main backpacker resort on the north of the island, leaving a crater behind.”

Obviously, the show must have been a ratings-hit with comments like ‘Shabby Titters’. Jeesh. It’s too bad such destruction had to come at the cost of such shitty television. Hit the jump for more:
